When I first asked Marina about photographing my husband and I while we were in Hawaii, I was so excited. I've "known" her online for several years now and I respect and admire her amazing imagery. But when she said she'd be interested in a trade, oh man, the pressure was on...big time. As you can tell from her site, Marina has a very distinct style (I just love the way she sees things) and I was very afraid that I wouldn't be able to capture the "coolness" of her family in a way that she would like.

But when we got together that day, the nerves melted away because here's the thing...this is how they are. There's no "posing," there's no "contriving," all I had to do was capture this incredibly dynamic family just doing their thing. That, I can do. And those boys? Oh, those boys of hers! Aren't they just stunningly handsome?? Oh, if only I could grow my boys' hair out like that!

Marina...thank you so much for trusting me to capture your family on camera. I hope we did you justice. It was an honor.

Not only is this senior absolutely stunning, she (and her mommy) are both incredibly beautiful on the inside, too. We had such a fun time gallivanting around Austin that night. I didn't want it to end, really.  M...congratulations to you on your upcoming graduation. You (and your mommy) should be very, very proud. (And yes, I still say mommy.)

They've been with me since pretty much the very beginning:
And now baby #3 is here and he fits in seamlessly as his father's very own "mini me." Their family is complete...for now and it has been such a wonderful experience to watch them change and grow even closer together through the years. Their family interactions never fail to make me giggle and mom's e-mails never fail to make me cry. I cannot wait to see what is next for this beautiful family, who have become dear friends.

1.jpgt_austin_engagement_photographer.jpgpom_austin_newborn_photographer.jpg(I know you've seen these images before...I'll explain below ;-))

1. We are CLOSED March 25th-April 5th, so I will return all e-mails/phone calls as soon as I can after that.

2. Thank you to EVERYONE who took the time to participate in the blogstalker scavenger hunt and for all of your kind comments. I can't believe we had 84 entries! But of course, there can only be one winner.  Congrats to entry number 82, Alexis...Random.org selected YOU! ;-) I've sent you an e-mail so let me know if you'd like the gift card or the charitable donation.

3. For March's Pic of the Month I simply could not decide so we have a three-way tie (no worries...this will not lessen anyone's chances of winning Pic of the Year). The first image is from her senior portraits session and I selected it because I don't think she has any idea just how lovely she is, inside and out.  The second was from this incredible engagement session and I just had to recognize them because they endured extreme winds, 38 degree weather, and insane mud just to hang out in some flowers for a few minutes. The final image isn't technically a "March" picture, but I was really torn last month...it's probably one of my most favorite nursing images to date and I feel like it speaks volumes for the connections created between mother and baby.

austin_featured_birth_photographer.jpg4. Speaking of moms and babies, I'm so excited to share that images from Emme's birth were featured in the latest issue of Midwifery Today magazine! I was so thrilled to see such wonderful articles on homebirth and I loved reading what Emme's mommy had to say about her birth experience. Congrats!

I can't believe I haven't had a chance to blog the session of our Helping Hearts for Haiti winners! Lyndsay posted her images the other day...don't you just love the connections she got between those two? It was truly a blast, prancing around downtown Austin, finding light in the most unusual places.  I was only supposed to edit 15-20 images for this session. I happily failed. Here...check them all out:

[Don't forget about the scavenger hunt contest. Cool prize. Ends March 22nd.]
