For the most part, the beautiful wildflowers that were here just a few weeks ago have faded and gone to seed--well, with the exception of one amazing field I happened upon for yesterday's session, right J?--but you'll have to wait to see those. This was the most incredible year I've ever seen for wildflowers here in Austin...and I've lived here for more than a decade now.  I promise I tried not to tromp through the flowers too much and hopefully, this year allowed them a chance to really establish themselves so they'll keep blessing us with their beauty for years to come.

[These are some of the retouched images printed for my clients from our last round of Xpressions sessions].

car_austin_baby_photographer.jpgAfter I don't even know how many times we had to reschedule (rain, birth, rain, etc.), we finally got to have our session for this sweet angel. She was so beautiful--like make you stop and catch your breath kind of beautiful. And we could not have asked for a more beautiful day for our session. Sometimes, I think things have a way of working out for the best.

[And how fortuitous that a very generous client happened to bequeath that ROCKIN' pink car to me yesterday? A million thank you's!]

What does this mean? And since she just celebrated her first birthday, let's share more from her amazing session:

A look back before she was even born and then as a brand new baby. No matter how many first year sessions I do, I'm ALWAYS blown away by how quickly time passes and how much these babies change.

feelinblue.jpgFinally. My turn to take my kiddos in the bluebonnets. I'm so blessed. If only I had a fireplace to hang this over... (or toss it into)...

There's a picture in one of my mother's albums that I've always loved. I was a baby (about this age) and we were at the beach. I don't remember being there, but the picture has become the memory for me. Mom was holding me on her hip like this and the wind was blowing her hair. I was snuggled up to her just like this and she was smiling a genuine smile.

Whenever I look at that picture I think, "Wow. That light is so beautiful."

Then I think, "Gosh, my mom looks pretty."

And then I think, "She really loves me."
