This one turned out to be a session near and dear to my heart. We had to reschedule time after time due to weather and births, so when we finally had the opportunity to get together, there was a lot of anxious anticipation.

But the second I saw their warm smiles and their "up for anything" approach, it was like we had been friends forever. And that baby girl has the richest, deepest, most sincere brown eyes I had ever seen. A truly beautiful evening with truly beautiful people and I'm so thankful to have met them.

And yes. That is a couch in the middle of a field (actually, we were tucked away behind a Dairy Queen ;-). And I don't care how cliché it is, I LOVE it!

When I walked into their home for this session and saw the kiddos, I just about fell over. I know it shouldn't shock me like it does, but I just couldn't believe how much they had grown! Gosh, when last I saw little man, he was a precious newborn baby.

And now they both have such vibrant personalities! We had so much fun at our session that day and I so enjoyed watching mom and dad enjoy their family. This is what it's all about!

cold_austin_engagement_photographer.jpgDon't let her adorable dress and casual pose fool you. It was freeeeeezing outside the day of their session. I mean, record-breaking freezing in Austin and windy and just all around yucky. And yet, they pulled through. They were just game for anything and didn't let it phase them at all. Or maybe it's just because they're such a great couple in love?

Thank you two so much for bearing with me that day and I wish you all the happiness in the world as you get ready to begin your lives as husband and wife.

When I first asked Marina about photographing my husband and I while we were in Hawaii, I was so excited. I've "known" her online for several years now and I respect and admire her amazing imagery. But when she said she'd be interested in a trade, oh man, the pressure was on...big time. As you can tell from her site, Marina has a very distinct style (I just love the way she sees things) and I was very afraid that I wouldn't be able to capture the "coolness" of her family in a way that she would like.

But when we got together that day, the nerves melted away because here's the thing...this is how they are. There's no "posing," there's no "contriving," all I had to do was capture this incredibly dynamic family just doing their thing. That, I can do. And those boys? Oh, those boys of hers! Aren't they just stunningly handsome?? Oh, if only I could grow my boys' hair out like that!

Marina...thank you so much for trusting me to capture your family on camera. I hope we did you justice. It was an honor.
