What does this mean? And since she just celebrated her first birthday, let’s share more from her amazing session:

A look back before she was even born and then as a brand new baby. No matter how many first year sessions I do, I’m ALWAYS blown away by how quickly time passes and how much these babies change.

feelinblue.jpgFinally. My turn to take my kiddos in the bluebonnets. I’m so blessed. If only I had a fireplace to hang this over… (or toss it into)…

There’s a picture in one of my mother’s albums that I’ve always loved. I was a baby (about this age) and we were at the beach. I don’t remember being there, but the picture has become the memory for me. Mom was holding me on her hip like this and the wind was blowing her hair. I was snuggled up to her just like this and she was smiling a genuine smile.

Whenever I look at that picture I think, “Wow. That light is so beautiful.”

Then I think, “Gosh, my mom looks pretty.”

And then I think, “She really loves me.”

Sassy 1 and Sassy 2. Thanks for such a fun session last night and for even thinking of me while you guys were in town!

I can only hope my own boys will someday be as good of friends as these two are right now. Such a beautiful thing to see today.

Our morning started off with the cards stacked against us…it was chilly, muddy, and the constant drizzle was quite annoying.  But once the clouds gave us a break, this little man was ready for action!

But I think the best part of this session was sitting around talking shop with mama (also a photographer!) and dad. I love how a friendship can evolve just from experiencing a session together. Amazing!

We ended up doing her session in two parts because we were stuck indoors the whole time the first day thanks to the freakishly cold Austin winter. The second day, we got to go outside and enjoy some signs of spring.

She is the most calm 1-year-old ever (I should know…I have one at home who is not quite this calm). I had to giggle when at one point, mom was putting tights on her and baby girl just laid there. If that were me, I’d be chasing my daughter all over the place to try and get her feet in those tights. Such a beautiful session with a charming little sweetie.

I met up with my friend-tog Margaret a few weeks ago to get some family pictures done for her. Just as things were going so well (her son is THE most cooperative child I’ve ever met), our session was cut ridiculously short because it was freeeeeeeeezing!!! This Austin weather has got us all confused. Glad we were able to get some pics from the morning anyway.

Hey…thanks to all of you who’ve opened your hearts and shared stories and offered your support here. You never cease to amaze me with your strength and kindness and acceptance of me, even when I’m not super mom (which is like, ALWAYS). You all are incredible.

And, still ONE opening left for our Xpressions next Sunday. I’ve got a GREAT little spot picked out and my husband is assigned to dragging out the clawfoot tub for us.

[Don’t forget about the scavenger
hunt contest
. Cool prize. Ends March 22nd.]

After the past few very rough days, it was lovely to see her finally sleeping so peacefully. Like a little angel.

More on that beautiful shirt later, by the way.

Also, if you haven’t been to the homeschool blog in a while…
