See that beautiful woman up there in the purple blouse/grey sweater? Yeah. She and her husband are celebrating 30 years of marriage this year and I think that is definitely something to brag about! To commemorate the occasion and to mark the new engagement of her daughter and future son-in-law, she wanted all of her kids to get together for a long overdue family photo session.
I was the teensiest bit nervous the day of because I'm used to working with little kids and not larger groups of adults. My burp jokes aimed at two-year-olds probably wouldn't have the same impact on a more mature crowd. However, the minute I arrived, I was instantly at ease: what a fun and down-to-earth group of people! I seriously don't think I've laughed so much at a session...ever. And check out the blue truck--completely restored by her youngest son. Such personality in this family and I'm so glad she decided to capture this on "film" (digitally speaking) forever!
As if it was the "yang" to this "yin," we celebrated his 1 year birthday by seeing just how much color we could find in downtown Austin. We truly did not have to go far--that's just one of the many, many things I love about this city...it is so rich with vibrant color and texture! He was so expressive and that boy TORE into his cupcake. Lucky for us, there was a hose nearby where we could clean up our mess. Probably one of my favorite parts of the session was watching mom and dad work together on that task as a team.
I hope I'm not telling on myself, but truly, this was one of the easiest sessions I've ever had (I guess I've paid my dues in the past). These boys were amazing and their parents were so relaxed and down-to-earth. Driving up to their home, I was getting *really* nervous because the skies were getting dark and there were rumors of bad storms (I guess that tells you how long ago this session was ;-). So when I got there, I told the boys that we were going to have to make it quick. They were absolute ANGELS! Not gonna lie...when I got a little giddy that their grandparents showed up for a few shots (celebrating a BIG anniversary this year). And I'm also not gonna lie about how mom's eyes mesmerized me.
This is my mom(my). AKA Mee Maw. AKA the Pinkle Toes Office Manager.
She is an incredible woman.
She may not believe it, but I think she's led an incredible life so far, overcoming many challenges that would probably have crushed me.
She is happy.
The happiest I've *ever* seen her.
I thank my lucky stars that she has finally found someone to be happy with her.
I think she should write a book.
I really do.
She has an intriguing story to tell.

I literally just sent these proofs off to order and I thought mom would love a bigger peek into her completely relaxed and so very fun photo session. Ack! So many favs, it was hard to choose. There's just so much adoration and emotion in this family. Now that I think about it, definitely going to have to do a "part 2" post.
