I cried the day I got the e-mail that her mommy and daddy were expecting. We had such a connection at our first session and I had always longed to see them again as parents. This little angel was so sweet and beautiful. And, she also let me work in her daddy’s canoes (wasn’t sure how I was going to pull that one off, LOL). I so look forward to watching her grow up!

[P.S. Monday is the last day to VOTE. Did I mention only a few votes separate 1st and 2nd places right now? Eeep.]

This is what happens when you show up, hang out, and happen to take a few pics of a family being a family. Well…we did have some mosquitoes and a mishap with a set of stairs, but just look at their connection! Can’t beat that!

[Ahem…by the way, only a few votes are separating first and second place right now. I’m even biting my nails. VOTE!]

When he was first born, I didn’t quite see it. Now I know he looks EXACTLY like his dad!! This little pumpkin made a guest appearance to our professional photographer workshop this past weekend (I’ll post those pics as soon as I can)…thanks MK for saving the day!

[p.s. Don’t forget to vote for Pic of the Year]

As physically and emotionally and creatively drained I am this evening, I’m up late with my heart full of joy and appreciation. Of all the things that have gone wrong this week (broken camera, cold rain, and a very sick mommy), I am SO grateful for the many, many things that went perfectly right, including:

1. Adorable baby #1.

2. Adorable baby #2.

3. And a group of incredible women who have been my rocks over these past few days. There is so much talent here. So much personality. So much passion for the art of photography. I’m so privileged to have had the opportunity to work with you. Thank you to my girls of the “Wawa Sisterhood.”

I’m not lying. Even my own. And anytime I see that I’m scheduled to do a session with a newborn baby + a toddler, by blood starts to run cold. I’m a chicken. That’s fine. I can admit that.

Buuuuuuuuut, then there’s this:

static_uri=%2Fdarkroom%2Fmt%2Fmt%2Dstatic%2F&data=%2Fdarkroom%2Fblog%2Fblogshow%2F4d2e1c9a3bb53%2Fimage%2Etable%2Edat&slideshow=1&ssr=1&autofit=0&show_width=870&show_height=580&background_color=%23f6f6f6&thumbnail_border_thickness=2&thumbnail_border_color=%23555354&thumbnail_highlight_color=%23dc257b&thumbnail_alignment=bottom&thumbnail_width=75&thumbnail_height=75

And then I start to feel silly that I was worried about it at all. And then I wonder if all of the toddlers in the world are communicating behind the scenes to gang up on me and perhaps this was just a ploy to get me to let my guard down so they can plan their real attack. And then I just think, “Nah. Look at her face. There’s no way.”

Tomorrow starts day one of the first run of our professional photographer workshops, so please understand if it takes longer than usual for me to respond to phone calls and e-mails. I’m so excited. The house is ready. The dish strainer is scrubbed. My computer is fired up (and *running*). I’m pumped. So excited to meet everyone and talk shop for a few days…just us girls!

You might recognize this cutie pie and her AMAZING nursery from L’s blog, but I had the honor of filling in a little bit this summer while Lynds was focusing on her sweet little boy. The very first thing that struck me that day when mom opened the door were her EYES (you’ll see what I mean towards the middle of the slides)! My word! I had never seen such brilliant green eyes before! And then I got to meet her precious baby girl who had eyes that were just as bright and sparkly…

(You’ll see why at the end of the slides ;-). Wow. Have I really not shared his newborn session yet?? Oh, this little man is such a blessing to his family and you won’t even believe it when you see the rest of his 3 months session!

Not to mention how much I ooohed and ahhhhed when this beauty landed on my doorstep (I may or may not have petted it repeatedly before sending it to its owner):

Those of you who hang out with me on Facebook know that I was totally nervous about my first newborn twins photo session today. But all of that worry was for not because these two were absolute angels for me and I cannot wait to go through their pics.  Meanwhile, here’s a quick peek and then a couple of outtakes that I thought were cute:

QUICK LINK TO VOTE HERE!

[Also, don’t miss the annual “Year in Review” slideshow at the end of this post]

austin_family_kids_birth_child_newborn_baby_photographer.jpgLet’s kick off 2011 the best way I can imagine with a recap of 2010 and determining our 2nd Annual Pinkle’s Pic of the Year Winner! Each month in 2010, I selected an image (or images) that moved me, but now (as before) it’s YOUR job as the Pinkle Toes Blogstalkers to decide
which of these was the best image of 2010.

M’kay, let’s vote! You can click on the images in the poll to view larger:

[Poll not showing properly? You can also vote via THIS LINK.]

The winner will receive an 11×14 canvas of their winning image AND a $500 Pinkle Toes gift card to be used
on a Premium session in 2011. Two runners-up will each receive
a $100 gift card and the Grand Prize winner gets to choose a 3rd
runner-up, also to receive a $100 gift card!

The fine print:

  • Voting will run January 1st-31st (ending at midnight central time)
  • Voting is monitored by IP address, so no multiple voting.
  • Results will not be shown, but I will announce winners on the blog Tuesday, Feb 1st.
  • I reserve the right to disqualify entries or terminate/modify the contest if necessary.
  • No purchase necessary to win.

Just like last year, I have absolutely NO clue who is going to take this prize. I’m just as excited as these families are to find out what will happen. (Did you know we had more than 1,400 votes last year??? Craziness!)

And of course, I can’t start a new year without taking a look back at all of the amazing people I’ve had the fortune of working with last year. I love making this slideshow every year…I love remembering each and every session. Be warned, though, this slideshow had to go pretty fast so I could fit all of the images in. Be sure to watch because it’s full of my favs from the year and many, many images that I haven’t even blogged yet:

I’ve said it many times before, but thank you…a million thank you’s to all of my clients. I truly feel blessed to have met each of you. Thank you for inviting me into your homes, to the births of your children, to glimpse into your lives and for trusting me to capture what makes your family so special and beautiful.

Much love,

Michele
