….what a room full of women and an adorable baby sounds like? Actually, a lot like a baby shower. If I had a dollar for every “oooooohh” and “awwwwww” this little man solicited from his watchful crowd, well, let’s just say I’d be sitting pretty.

Thankful to have been introduced to yet another amazing group of photographer ladies today at our workshop and I’m very much looking forward to spending tomorrow shooting for and with them!

His birth was so calm, so uncomplicated, so bittersweet. His family is about to leave me town 🙁 and it’s going to be tough not to see him and his big sister grow up in person like this anymore. But I’m going to hang onto these moments and I can always say, “I’ve known you since before you were born…”

While I’ve photographed a few c-sections before, I’ve never actually photographed THE c-section until now. What an experience!!! Modern medicine is certainly something to marvel. I couldn’t get over how *fast* it was…beginning to end. Wow! Quite amazing.

So here is the birth of Rowan, shared with permission from his mommy (Google Reader/RSS users…you’ll want to click THIS link to view):

tiny_austin_birth_maternity_pregnancy_photographer.jpgAt a mere 10 lbs 6 oz (oh yes, that’s NOT a typo), baby Carter came into this world today just as cute as he could be! If they were to give trophies out at the end of births, his mama certainly deserved one for completing this marathon med free. Beautiful, beautiful and MUCH anticipated birth day.

Walking up to her at our session this week, I kept tearing up. I was having flashbacks to here…and then to here (sigh)…and then this…and to these from last fall…

fallm_austin_family_photographer.jpgI admit it’s a little tough for me to watch these kiddos grow up. It reminds me of how fast my own children are growing. But it does make me happy that families are documenting each of these milestones in photographs…something I promise they will never regret. It makes me excited to see how much she’s going to change even over the next year. Thank you guys…from the bottom of my heart..it has been a beautiful, beautiful year with you!

He just kept making the most adorable faces…he was perfectly alert and then perfectly sleepy. He was almost too good for us! [Workshops are currently full for this year, but you can still follow me on the Pinkle Toes 4 Photographers blog and on Facebook to stay updated in case anything changes].

I’m fairly certain I’ve teared up at every newborn session, but this one was almost too much to bear. From the moment I walked in, mom was snuggled up nursing baby boy and I glanced upon her dresser to find this framed hand-written list from her husband. The very idea that he wrote this out was so moving, but the fact it was framed just cemented it.

g2_austin_newborn_lifestyle_photographer.jpgWe were all so happy…so joyful…so eager to celebrate this little man’s birth! There were so many tears all around. Notice the one in his grandmother’s eye. We actually had to stop the session several times because we were so caught up in it all. I told them I would *never* be able to finish the session if we didn’t collect ourselves, but once the waterworks turned on, we were all goners. This one makes me giggle:

g3_austin_newborn_lifestyle_photographer.jpgBut these last two images really captured the vibe of that morning for me. I was photographing dad and his boy and I could literally *feel* the gaze of mom back there. The love was so intense…so palatable. Wow. It got me. Still gets me.

October is full,
November is almost, too,
Book your holiday session now,
Or you’ll be blue.

We can hold it in July
Or August is neat.
For a full session those months,
You’ll get a special treat.

Obviously I’m tired,
And my poetry is lame.
But without family pictures,
Your cards simply won’t be the same.

——————-

Okay, enough of that. (I can’t believe I went there.) All I wanted to say was this:

  • Check out the Session Openings calendar to see what’s left.
  • If you’re willing to hold your family session in July or August, you’ll receive a FREE set of 24 flat holiday cards (choose one from 5 designs – those two above included). To qualify, session must be booked by May 31st, 2011 (mini or Xpressions sessions
do not qualify for this offer).
  • To find out how to reserve your session
and get information on the NEW flat-rate pricing structure, please
