Oh my gosh. Was this session *really* back in August? Why, yes, I believe it was. I don’t get to work with families with older kids very often, but when I do, it’s always a treat. I look at mom up there and I imagine myself in her shoes in just a blink of an eye. Well, I hope so anyway, because those boys of hers are true gentleman and it was a pleasure to get to work with all of them that day. Thought for sure the skies were going to open up on us, but thankfully, the rain held off…

I feel like it’s been a while since I’ve been able to do a maternity session in downtown Austin. Too bad because it’s the PERFECT place to take fun, edgy, carefree, urban maternity portraits. Lucky me, because I also had these two (three?) who were just as into the session as I was!

Finally done with holiday orders and I’m pretty sure everyone’s cards have been sent out, so now begins the fun job of sharing all of these sessions! This family is dear to my heart as I’ve photographed both of their boys as newborns. It is always such an honor to get to watch these kiddos grow up and they have become healthy, energetic, all-boy-boys! We had to outrun the rain, a footrace, and in many cases, the boys, themselves to snag pics at our session, but gosh, just look at those grins and bright blue eyes!

Fall always has been and always will be my most favorite time of the year. Driving home from my session tonight, there was the most incredible purple and gold and auburn sunset (too bad the session was over) and I thought before we get swept away into the winter holiday season, perhaps we could appreciate the beauty of fall for a second. I decided to put together a collection of my favorite images from this fall so that maybe when we’re all sweltering in the summer next year, we can look back here and feel fresh, and crisp, and warm, and cool, and fuzzy, and hopeful, and thankful all over again…

that a family photo session should be…
And I feel very blessed to have been able to capture their beauty. As they are.

Mama said she wanted to go to a place where I hadn’t photographed before. That pretty much ruled out all of Austin, so we headed to historic Gruene. We battled multiple diaper changes and charity races and storm clouds and overly friendly hotel staff and the oh-so-typical two kids heading in opposite directions, but we managed to get some GREAT shots! So glad we all hung in there!

I’ve been dying to blog this session from forever ago, but I wanted to wait until I had the album in hand to show you, too. Aren’t these cover materials awesome??? And her cover is actually RED viper…how cool is she? Clients, don’t forget to ask me about the special offer on upgrading to these beautiful albums.
Here are the page spreads from their family album:
Oh, this session was such a blast! You wouldn’t believe how hot we were, but it was quite the treat to get into the water at the end. And of course there was that beautiful, glowy, sunset.

Technically, this was her senior portrait session and her beau was just “the help.” But seriously, would you pass up the chance to capture this sweetness? I think not.
Thanks, T, for being such an awesome help at the session and for being such a good sport!
