I heard this song for the first time the other day and I couldn’t help but to think of my own life, my kiddos when they grow up, and all of the families I’ve gotten to work with over the years. I’m not one for sappy country songs, but this one got me…and then became the soundtrack while I edited this session…

When she first walked into the studio, I had to do a double take. “You are indeed pregnant, right?” because she was the tiniest little thing I’d ever seen. Thank goodness for this wrap shirt to help show off that adorable little bump.

….what a room full of women and an adorable baby sounds like? Actually, a lot like a baby shower. If I had a dollar for every “oooooohh” and “awwwwww” this little man solicited from his watchful crowd, well, let’s just say I’d be sitting pretty.
Thankful to have been introduced to yet another amazing group of photographer ladies today at our workshop and I’m very much looking forward to spending tomorrow shooting for and with them!

At a mere 10 lbs 6 oz (oh yes, that’s NOT a typo), baby Carter came into this world today just as cute as he could be! If they were to give trophies out at the end of births, his mama certainly deserved one for completing this marathon med free. Beautiful, beautiful and MUCH anticipated birth day.

You could smell that mimosa tree from a mile away. The light was absolutely gorgeous. And kids can fly.

I can’t imagine a more beautiful day for his birth! And I can’t imagine a more wonderful family to share this special day with. He’s perfect…just perfect!

Tonight was so surreal. See that little guy sitting on dad’s lap? Yeah, this was him two years ago. And now he has a new brother that could possibly be his twin. And then to see how the older two kids (I use “kids” for lack of a better term, I promise, G) have grown into handsome/beautiful young adults. I just kept having to rub my eyes and pinch myself. In mom’s words when I asked her to describe her vision for the session: “…document where we are. son taller than his mom,
but not dad. daughter getting so pretty and surviving as the lone girl.
j being crazy. baby being snuggly.” Is this for real? Is this what I’m going to be staring at in a few years myself (son taller than his mom???). Wow. I’m so not ready for that. But they are. And they take everything in with such grace and love. They set a pretty darned good example–well, minus the little run-in with a rogue stroller and a sidewalk. Yeah, other than that…pretty amazing.
