1. I’ve worked hard to incorporate true lifestyle (well, as close to true lifestyle as is possible) photography in my family photo sessions simply because when I look through my own personal pictures, those are the images that I’m drawn to most.
2. We didn’t know it at the time, but that sweet baby girl was battling some kind of awful sickness that landed her in the hospital for a bit. She’s all recovered now, but poor thing…I can’t believe she put up with the session in spite of her not feeling well. I look forward to getting to work with her again when she’s her normal, happy self.
3. Her mommy has the.best.hair.ever. She’s better than a Breck girl.

Three things about this newborn session:
1. Seriously the most smiley baby I have ever met. Ever. No matter what we did, he just seemed to feel the need to smile and I dig that about him.
2. Have I told you how much I enjoy working with this family? Well, just in case I haven’t, I’ll tell you again.
3. In the pics below, you’ll see little man snuggled in a basket. I can’t even begin to describe what we went through to get that shot, but let us take a moment to pause and appreciate our efforts.

1) Dogs + babies scare me. Badly. Buuuuuuut I could have worked with those angels all day.
2) The bowl he’s in? I believe that is a bread bowl that belonged to her (great?) grandfather. This is why I love doing newborn sessions in my clients’ homes and why I don’t like to bring my own props…isn’t it so much more meaningful when your images have YOUR stuff in them?
3) Looking forward to hanging with him again in just a few months. Anxious to see how he’s grown!

or even playing in the big leagues, but at least I can say, “I knew him when…” 😉 Three things about this session:

1) I just about passed out when I pulled up to see that beautiful pond in the front yard.
2) The yawning pic was before our session really began…so glad I was fast enough to catch that moment.
3) Before having my own children and before this business, I used to think all babies looked alike. Nowadays, however, if you showed me a picture of every single newborn I’ve ever photographed, I could tell you their name. In this case, you could show me a picture of his daddy and I could still tell you who belonged to him. I could not get over their resemblance!

and say this is as cool as it gets, but I’m a bad liar. It gets way cooler. In fact, this little dude might be the coolest baby on his block. More later 😉

Up until this point, I had never seen anything like this little hoodie made just for her by her grandmother. I loved the way this looked and the sentimental value behind it. Of course, this baby girl can totally carry this style. Actually, with those chubby cheeks and beautiful skin, she can pull off any look…

Gosh. Looking back through these images to blog, this really does seem like a LONG time ago. They sure make family sessions look really easy, too! Big brother was a hoot…be sure to go all the way to the end to see one of my most favorite family portraits ever 😉
