I know every parent hopes that their children will be the best of friends when they are little and when they grow up. Sometimes, it takes a little while for those positive sibling relationships to develop (as in the case of my two boys, LOL), but every now and then some parents are very lucky to observe a sibling bond that forms instantly (as in the case of these two sisters). I hope they treasure their closeness because it is quite a beautiful and rare thing to see so early.
Oh, just realized I hadn’t blogged the images from their maternity session yet either. It was sooooooo windy that day, but they stuck it out anyway. Well worth it!!

Celebrated his birthday recently. It was nice to take a few minutes away from his siblings to just hang with him. He’s so danged funny!!! And truly enjoys being on both sides of the camera. He has a tendency to fade into the background of this loud family at times, but when he’s in the moment, he shines.
I love this kid.

Sometimes, you can strip away all of the color and hip, Austin backgrounds and wind up with something so simple, yet so beautiful. A little green oasis tucked away in Austin with a warm, glowing sunrise made for the perfect playground for this family photo session. They looked beautiful!

Pretty is definitely the first word that comes to mind when I think of this session. This was from way back when it used to rain here. In fact, I think we actually had to reschedule because of rain which was a little risky since they had traveled in from New Mexico. Meg is a VERY busy and VERY talented and now VERY pregnant photographer ;-). I just LOVE her work and I’m so excited to have a new photog to inspire me. We really hit it off and I very much enjoyed working with her. We had actually made plans to get together again in New Mexico this fall, but we have since tabled our RV trip (boooo :-(. I’m so excited to “see” their new baby boy when he makes his arrival!

We did a quick little mini session to mark his 1/2 year birthday. He wasn’t too thrilled with the grass, but his big sis found LOTS of things to spark her curiosity. The wind was CRAZY that day, but I loved what it did to add to the mood of the images.

A lot. In spite of the 100+ degree heat that day, we managed to have a blast. Dad-to-be said, “I’ll do anything you ask me to…I’ll even stand on my head.” Okay. You got it! Anxious to meet their baby girl next month…equally excited to see the “antique beach themed nursery.”

but only if it’s NOT windy and if you’re not around any cactus. We had all these big plans for the balloons and quite literally we lost all but one within minutes of going outside. Oh well. She managed to be an adorable little ham without them.

I’ve had a daughter for 2.5 years now, but for some strange reason, I still think of myself first as a “mom to boys.” That relationship is very special to me and I’m immediately drawn to images of moms and their sons. I was so thrilled when Christi asked me to photograph her family and I loved watching how she interacted with her boys. She loves them both equally, but differently. She appreciates their individual personalities and is simply amazing at letting them both shine their own lights. She is a beautiful matriarch ;-).

See what I mean???? *Every* time!
