but only if it’s NOT windy and if you’re not around any cactus. We had all these big plans for the balloons and quite literally we lost all but one within minutes of going outside. Oh well. She managed to be an adorable little ham without them.

October is full,
November is almost, too,
Book your holiday session now,
Or you’ll be blue.
November is almost, too,
Book your holiday session now,
Or you’ll be blue.
We can hold it in July
Or August is neat.
For a full session those months,
You’ll get a special treat.
Obviously I’m tired,
And my poetry is lame.
But without family pictures,
Your cards simply won’t be the same.
——————-
Okay, enough of that. (I can’t believe I went there.) All I wanted to say was this:
- Check out the Session Openings calendar to see what’s left.
- If you’re willing to hold your family session in July or August, you’ll receive a FREE set of 24 flat holiday cards (choose one from 5 designs – those two above included). To qualify, session must be booked by May 31st, 2011 (mini or Xpressions sessions
do not qualify for this offer). - To find out how to reserve your session
and get information on the NEW flat-rate pricing structure, please

You could smell that mimosa tree from a mile away. The light was absolutely gorgeous. And kids can fly.

I quite enjoy the opportunity to photograph a maternity session where the focus is on the family. Here they are…at this time…together…getting ready to bring a new life into their family. In spite of having a toddler, it’s peaceful compared to what changes are about to take place.
(I could have worked in this yellow room all day!)
Big sis “to be” got a little sleepy during our session and so she spent a little quiet time with her parents. These were my favorite moments.
And of course, the pupster had to be in some pictures!

(Oh, doesn’t mama remind you of Natalie Portman??? Well, I thought so anyway.)

We all came together at one of my favorite parks to throw leaves, laugh, and enjoy the amazing fall air last holiday season (yes…I’m still about 10 posts out from blogging 2011 sessions ;-). Mom’s eyes had me captivated, but the little ones…they definitely stole my heart. I know family sessions aren’t always the easiest thing to get everyone together for (who am I kidding…it’s got to be more difficult than childbirth), but as I’m reminded by my own children every day, you don’t get this back…not one second of it.

Tonight was so surreal. See that little guy sitting on dad’s lap? Yeah, this was him two years ago. And now he has a new brother that could possibly be his twin. And then to see how the older two kids (I use “kids” for lack of a better term, I promise, G) have grown into handsome/beautiful young adults. I just kept having to rub my eyes and pinch myself. In mom’s words when I asked her to describe her vision for the session: “…document where we are. son taller than his mom,
but not dad. daughter getting so pretty and surviving as the lone girl.
j being crazy. baby being snuggly.” Is this for real? Is this what I’m going to be staring at in a few years myself (son taller than his mom???). Wow. I’m so not ready for that. But they are. And they take everything in with such grace and love. They set a pretty darned good example–well, minus the little run-in with a rogue stroller and a sidewalk. Yeah, other than that…pretty amazing.

and appreciate how much time is actually put into a session–before, during, and after. In looking through these, I know how each image is special for it’s own reasons. And then when you think that these are only a handful of the images that have been created so far this year–not just by me, but by every other person who owns a camera–wow! This digital age is truly something beyond comprehension!

1. I’ve worked hard to incorporate true lifestyle (well, as close to true lifestyle as is possible) photography in my family photo sessions simply because when I look through my own personal pictures, those are the images that I’m drawn to most.
2. We didn’t know it at the time, but that sweet baby girl was battling some kind of awful sickness that landed her in the hospital for a bit. She’s all recovered now, but poor thing…I can’t believe she put up with the session in spite of her not feeling well. I look forward to getting to work with her again when she’s her normal, happy self.
3. Her mommy has the.best.hair.ever. She’s better than a Breck girl.
