I first met them when baby girl was still in mommy’s tummy. I was so excited for them because they were having a girl. At the time, I was just a few months pregnant behind her and didn’t know what I was having. (I think she did an excellent job of sending those pink vibes my way.) And then, I got to watch her grow up: newborn, 4 months, 7 months, and one year…and see my future a few months before my own little girl reached those milestones. I just love looking back on all of these images and I try to imagine what kinds of memories we preserved for this family.
[“Sweet” tidbit of info: a few months ago I was contacted by the owner of Hey Cupcake! looking for a family to serve as the models for a new print ad campaign and THIS family was the one they chose! I can’t wait to see how the ads turned out!!!]
Their holiday card proved to be quite a challenge for me, though. There were so many images we wanted to feature, but short of sending out a poster-sized card, we had to come up with some way to tell the story of their session. So, we ended up with this tri-fold:
I LOVED how it turned out. In fact, I decided to turn the JOY, HOPE, LOVE lines into a 12×12 storyboard AND it was used as the title page of their album:

Just look at that smile while looking up at her daddy! She seriously has me thinking I could start offering newborn sessions in studio….just maybe…
[Also, don’t miss the annual “Year in Review” slideshow at the end of this post]
Let’s kick off 2011 the best way I can imagine with a recap of 2010 and determining our 2nd Annual Pinkle’s Pic of the Year Winner! Each month in 2010, I selected an image (or images) that moved me, but now (as before) it’s YOUR job as the Pinkle Toes Blogstalkers to decidewhich of these was the best image of 2010.
M’kay, let’s vote! You can click on the images in the poll to view larger:
on a Premium session in 2011. Two runners-up will each receive
a $100 gift card and the Grand Prize winner gets to choose a 3rd
runner-up, also to receive a $100 gift card!
The fine print:
- Voting will run January 1st-31st (ending at midnight central time)
- Voting is monitored by IP address, so no multiple voting.
- Results will not be shown, but I will announce winners on the blog Tuesday, Feb 1st.
- I reserve the right to disqualify entries or terminate/modify the contest if necessary.
- No purchase necessary to win.
Just like last year, I have absolutely NO clue who is going to take this prize. I’m just as excited as these families are to find out what will happen. (Did you know we had more than 1,400 votes last year??? Craziness!)
And of course, I can’t start a new year without taking a look back at all of the amazing people I’ve had the fortune of working with last year. I love making this slideshow every year…I love remembering each and every session. Be warned, though, this slideshow had to go pretty fast so I could fit all of the images in. Be sure to watch because it’s full of my favs from the year and many, many images that I haven’t even blogged yet:
I’ve said it many times before, but thank you…a million thank you’s to all of my clients. I truly feel blessed to have met each of you. Thank you for inviting me into your homes, to the births of your children, to glimpse into your lives and for trusting me to capture what makes your family so special and beautiful.
Much love,
Michele
We need even more newborn models to be on call for our Feb professional photographer workshops (held in the Pinkle Toes studio in Austin, TX).
If your due date falls between Jan 20th-Feb 20th, we’d love to put you on our call list. If you want to be on call, please fill out THIS FORM. Only submissions via this form will be accepted (not phone calls, not e-mails, not comments, not facebook). If you’ve already submitted this form for the first round, there’s no need to send again.
Newborn models (and their mommies and daddies if possible), must be available in the afternoon on at least one of these dates:
- Thu Feb 10th
- Thu Feb 24th
Signed model release is required. If selected, models
will receive several images from their session (digital files) as
compensation for their participation. This is an amazing opportunity to
have your newborn portraits done by professional
photographers!
Wanna see more of one of the MOST adorable newborn babies I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with? Okay. You twisted my arm…

And I feel very blessed to have been able to capture their beauty. As they are.
