Looooooong couple of days, but isn’t Austin a glorious city???? We so enjoyed this incredible weather today, tooling around Austin, honing our photography skills, and sharing laughs. And…in case you didn’t see it:

…outta “workshop.”

Really? This is my life? I get to hang out and talk photography with a bunch of amazing and fun people all day? Pinch me.

Just for my Clickin’ a Box girls: “See I’m wiiiiiiiiise enough to know when a gift needs givin’…”

I SOOOOO wish I had the time to take more behind the scenes pics at the workshop last week, but at least I did take some (and my girls even snapped a few of me in action). This doesn’t even come close to capturing how much fun we had honing our photography and business skills and I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to get to know these talented women. Group 2 – get ready!!!!

I’m sorry, she’s very busy right now. She’ll have to call you back.

[Kinda hard to show on here, but this is a 5×7 wide format card…the red pages are the front and back of the card and then green pages are actually side by side and fold out to a 14 inch spread when opened.]

I was very proud of this year’s holiday card for several reasons:

1. I honestly didn’t think it was going to happen. I’ve had this concept in my mind (and Amry’s dress in my hands) since this summer, but when the busy holiday season actually hit, I just couldn’t imagine finding the time to take the pictures and then create and send cards. But with the help of my AWESOME husband and our new Pinkle Toes Office Manager (my mom!), somehow, we got cards mailed out.

2. I knew I was going to have to use my new lighting techniques I learned this summer and honestly, I was very skeerd that I wouldn’t be able to make it work.

3. It was cold. And my kids were NOT happy about taking these pics. In fact, most of the images from that night looked like this:

cityoflights_0024.jpg4. And most importantly, it served as a visual reminder of my goal to TRAVEL more starting in 2011. We’re ready to explore…to see the world…or at least give it a good start. This is why we homeschool and I know I want the kids to experience these places and not just see them on TV. We’re going to start small by hitting a few places in the U.S. and see how it goes, but I’m very hopeful we can make it happen. I’m VERY excited about 2011!

But for now, I think we’ll take a little break and hunker down at home to enjoy this Christmas. Thank you to everyone for a wonderful 2010 and I wish you the most magical, wonderful, special, and love-filled holiday season ever!

Much love,

Michele

Thought this was a neat view from under the desk as I set everything up IN THE NEW STUDIO!!! Started the moving in process today. We’ve still got a ways to go, but let us not skip past the fact that I am typing from the studio as we speak. Wow. Wow. Wow.

I’m going to tell on myself here. It was an hour drive out there to meet newborn baby T.  I arrived right on time, jumped out of the car, and ran to the back to grab my camera bag only to find that somehow, in the midst of beanbags, blankets, and session props, the bag never made it to the car.

Oh.

My.

Dog.

t_austin_newborn_photographer.jpgYeah. That pretty much sums up how I felt.

But this beautiful family was soooooooo sweet and understanding (thank you!!!) and my hubby offered to meet me halfway to bring me my stuff, so, things started to look better…

t2_austin_family_photographer.jpgAnd after we settled into our session groove and little man got more comfortable, I think we all relaxed and really enjoyed ourselves.

t3_austin_baby_photographer.jpgAhhhhh…now *that’s* more like it.

Mama, I just flipped through the images and you are going to be blown away, I promise (with some especially adorable family pics). Thank you again for being so patient and understanding with my mommy brain today. I’m absolutely smitten with baby T.

[Oh, and a quick note to all my dear photog friends on Facebook…thank YOU for sharing your stories of silly mistakes today. You made me feel so much better!]
